STATS: 16PTS | 2AST | 1STL | 3 TO | 5 DEFLECTIONS (3/13 FG, 3/10 3PT, 7/8 FT)
NOV. 24, 2022 – Tuesday night my coaches named me “Player of the Game” in our region opener against Johnson Ferry Christian Academy in Marietta, GA. It was a road game versus a team full of seniors, and my team only has 1 senior and 3 juniors. This game was over the Thanksgiving break, and with our other upperclassmen out, I ended up starting alongside 1 sophomore and 3 freshmen. As a result, my role was different.
I am our team’s assists leader and #2 steals guy, but my coaches asked me to focus mostly on scoring in this game. I led our team with 16 points, 2 assists, 5 deflections and 1 steal. I’ve been in a semi shooting slump and only shot 30% from the 3PT arc (3-10) this game. So my goal was to get two feet in the paint and draw fouls. Fortunately, it paid off because I wound up shooting 7 for 8 from the free throw line.
Even though we lost the game, I think we still played well overall. Our next one is a non-region away game at Lyndon Academy on Tuesday, November 29th (2022) at 6:30pm ET.
