(Dec. 9, 2022) I’m a bit bummed because I have a concussion, which happened in my game on Monday night. It’s Friday and I still have headaches when I hear loud noises or see bright lights. My doctor says I will miss several weeks, which means I will miss a few games.
HOW I GOT A CONCUSSION – In the start of the second quarter I got a steal and immediately three of their players slammed into me and I caught a knee to the head. I started to feel a little better by halftime, so my coach let me play most of the 2nd half. I still had a slight headache, but I did not realize I had a concussion. We ended up losing by 2 points at the buzzer, mostly because I couldn’t go 100% like I wanted to. I ended the game with only 2pts, 4ast, 2stl, 2reb, and 1TO.
After the game my parents said I still seemed off so, they gave me some Tylenol and tried to keep me awake. The next day my doctor said I have a concussion, and he was upset with my coaches for letting me play the 2nd half. Thankfully, I didn’t get hit in the head again.
Now I have to go to physical therapy for a few weeks, and can only do non-contact skill work until I’m cleared to play with contact again.
