STATS: 7 AST | 5 PTS | 5 STL | 5 DEFL | 5 REB | 2 TO | 31 MINUTES
DECEMBER 1, 2022 – Tuesday night, I got my first ever Quadruple Nickel against Lyndon Academy in Woodstock, GA. This means I recorded five or more in four major stat categories. I was a little upset after the game because we lost and my shots weren’t falling (2-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT). But, after looking at my numbers I realized that I actually played well overall.
I’m the type of player who hates losing more than I like winning. So, when my shots are not falling I always look for other ways to try and lead my team to wins. Even though we lost, I felt a lot better about my contributions when I learned that one of my favorite players, Draymond Green had a Quad Nickel in 2017 against the Memphis Grizzlies. But, Draymond did it without points being one of the stats – which is amazing.

Prior to this game at Lyndon Academy, I made it a point to study how college PGs manage the shot clock, and it helped a ton. I was able to go out and keep control of the pace of the game, and our team led for majority of the game. Which is great when your squad is made up of mostly underclassmen, and our opponent was mostly seniors. Unfortunately, a few late game mistakes like not closing out on shooters, missing free throws, and silly turnovers cost us the win (58-50 loss).
I led our team in assists and steals with 7 and 5, respectively. I also snagged 5 rebounds and had 5 deflections. While my shooting struggles have continued, I still contributed 5 points and only had 2 turnovers. I have been spending extra hours outside of my normal team practices just working on being a more efficient scorer, so I believe that I will eventually turn things around. But, until next time…
