(Video: NCAA Live Period July 2022. I no longer have patellar tendinitis.)

I Am a Point GuardThis means I am a leader, a high IQ thinker, a great communicator, a tenacious defender, a pace setter, an extension of my coach, and a pass first/shoot second floor general who can score when needed.  I am what they had in mind when the name “point guard” was first used to describe my role on the basketball court.

I am NOT a small guard, an undersized guard, nor a diminutive guard. These “labels” are used by narrow-sighted individuals who try to use my size to diminish my worth. I reject any label that does not speak to who I truly am.

WHAT IS A POIN T GUARD: The point guard position cannot be defined by someone’s height/size, or the simple fact that they are dribbling the ball up the court.  To me, a true PG can only be defined by a player’s commitment to being their team’s fearless and unselfish leader.  One whose sole mission is to do whatever is needed to lead their team to success on and off the court.

As the point guard, I am the “head of the snake”.  I am first person the opponent sees on both defense and offense, which is why my position is labeled “the one (1)”.  It is also why I wear the number 1 on my jersey.  This means I must not take a single play off on defense nor offense.  I must lead… which is why I am called a “floor general”.

All you have to do is watch me play the game and you’ll understand why I am the definition of a Point Guard.  If you are a college coach who’s looking for a true point guard, holler at me!
